Terms of Use

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of betty-ca.org (the "Site") and your participation in any of The Betty Foundation's programs ("the Foundation", "we", "us"). By using the Site or applying to a program you agree to these Terms.
1. About us
The Betty Foundation is a registered Canadian charity (charitable registration 82736 1294 RR0001), incorporated in Ontario. Our office is at 55 Bloor Street West, Suite 410, Toronto, ON M4W 1A5.
2. Donations & tax receipts
- All donations are processed in Canadian dollars by Stripe.
- Donations of $20 or more receive an official tax receipt within 7 business days, as required by the Canada Revenue Agency.
- Recurring (monthly) donations may be cancelled at any time by emailing [email protected].
- Refunds for donations made in error are available within 30 days; please contact us.
3. Program applications
- Submitting an application does not guarantee acceptance into any program. Decisions are made by independent committees.
- We endeavour to respond to every applicant — successful or not — within four weeks.
- You retain ownership of all materials submitted with your application; you grant us a limited licence to read, store and process them solely for the purpose of assessing the application.
4. Mentor commitments
Volunteer mentors agree to: complete a one-hour onboarding, undergo a Police Information Check (we cover the cost), commit to a minimum of two hours per month for six months, and abide by our Code of Conduct (provided at onboarding and available on request).
5. Acceptable use of the Site
You agree not to use the Site for any unlawful purpose, to attempt to access non-public areas, to scrape content at scale, to impersonate another person, or to introduce viruses or malicious code.
6. Intellectual property
All content on this Site — text, photographs, logos, programme materials — is owned by the Foundation or used under licence. You may share and link to our pages freely; you may not republish substantial sections without written permission.
7. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by Ontario law, the Foundation's aggregate liability arising out of your use of this Site or participation in our programs is limited to $100. We are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages.
8. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. The courts of Ontario have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute.
9. Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date above reflects the latest revision. Continued use of the Site after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
